great labelsMy Dymo 330 stopped printing. All labels printed as blank. So I bought the new, improved Dymo 450 DUO, with twice the firepower! It prints both labels and tape! However, the new "DYMO Connect" software does not work. It does not recognize the tape printer, so I could only print labels. So I went back to my old "Dymo Label" software, which recognized both the label printer AND the tape printer! But when I printed to a tape, it first jammed up, with the tape text all black (see picture). I called Dymo support (of course no answer) but a search revealed a lot of complaints about blank labels. Also, the tape cartridge is buried about an inch inside the machine, so I expected a lot of wasted tape. I was ready to toss the whole mess. But after I unjammed it and tried again, I found it does not waste the tape; it cuts and then fires the tape out of the printer and across the room! This is cool! So I tried printing a label and found it printed blank (see picture), just like my old Dymo 330. It was a software problem all the time. When I upgraded to the latest "Dymo LABEL" (NOT "Dymo Connect") software, everything works on the new label maker! So if your Dymo is printing blank labels, upgrade the software. If you like a tape-firing machine, get the Duo.Windows 11 only recognize as one type of printer. The tape will not work in Windows 11. Dymo tech wrote the following:"In regards to your case, if you are not able to choose the tape in DYMO Label Software, I would like to inform you that this issue is caused by Windows 11 being unable to support 2 printers in 1 and it is not a printer or DYMO software issue and this goes to all 2 printers in 1, in general, it is not only DYMO printers.Unfortunately, the compatibility of the Windows update and LabelWriter DUO is a work in progress. The ticket has been raised with Microsoft to address this issue and it is intended to be compatible with it but the system has some early issues that should be fixed by Microsoft. I would advise you to use Windows 10 or a Mac computer now until the issue is fixed. If Microsoft fixes it, it will be added to the Windows OS update."After upgrading to Windows 11, I can no longer print tape-based labels. The software/driver should create 2 printers on your system - one for labels, one for tape. The tape printer does not get installed/created. I reached out to support and was informed that this printer is not compatible with Windows 11, and my "work-around" is to downgrade to Windows 10, and that they are going to release an update to fix the issue. When I replied to ask when the update will be available, or how I will know when the update is available, support never responded. Until this issue is resolved, it's a one-star product.Works well. Easy to use software is thoughtfully setup to make most common tasks smooth. Some could be improved... but you can probably find a way to do about anything by printing from MS Word, Excel, or some other program with some experimentation. The tap writer portion should allow more flexibility for what is entered to be printed.I love my Dymo label writer 450 duo thermal printer. This is my second one. I messed up the bottom part cutter after it jammed after 12 plus years of use. I think that is pretty good amount of time / use even though I damaged it. I might have been able to fix with out damaging it I am not sure. I have not used this new one a lot yet, but I am sure with the brand name I will again get many years use out of it. I highly recommend this to those of us that like to label things, have businesses etc (are OCD) LOLThanks all. :)I have used them for years and between the 2 type labels it is extremely flexible. You can even get heavy duty labels (BOPP) that will last for years even outside! And the smaller vinyl labels last in all weather as wellI have used Dymo labelers in the past as well as Brother P-touch models. The Dymo 450 Duo is the fastest and most versatile of them all. I haven't tried the postage feature but for mailing labels and for file folders it works great. It's small footprint also works well in my crowded office. The software is intuitive and easy to use. The graphics on screen verify the final output.Hay Dymo. . . . Love the fact that it can hold 2 different size labels. The hard part is knowing what is size label is in the machine
