Had this item for less than 3 months. Didn't open item for the first month as I was recovering from spinal surgery (and not taking any pictures). Item remained in a drawer in its original unopened box until about Mid April. I received it on March 2nd. It worked like a dream for 20 pictures!! Then last night the unit flashed to indicate new batteries needed. Now I was surprised as just a couple nights before I had printed my 20th or maybe 30th photo! The box indicates approx 100 photos per set of batteries on average. But I put in Energizer CR2 3v batteries, ,mirroring the Panasonic ones that came with the printer. I double checked before inserting. Insert batteries, everything lights up! Okay good to go, except I couldn't get app to pair to print, was feeling frustrated so just printed to my big printer. The lights went off on unit as it does when it's not in use. Left it be thinking I'd print more in the am. My cat, yes my cat started hissing at the unit, which is strange cause he's seen it out when Ibe used it before. His hair was standing right straight up, I was puzzled, went to pick up the unit *which was on a computer like table next to my hospital bed in LR, and dang near dropped it because it was so hot! I quickly took cover off, burnt my fingers getting batteries out of unit. They were blazing hot. If my 4 to with her ltitle hands had touched them we'd have been in the ER kind of hot. Wake the hubs cause now I'm worried, do a little research online, only to find out that the unit can malfunction in this way resulting in bursting or FIRE! This was bedside. Had I just decided to go to sleep and not see what tye cat was hissing at or decide to better put it away so he couldn't scoot it off the table as cats can want to do with items...I would not have known. There was no indication by app or the unit itself there was a problem! My pain skyrocketed, panic attack, hubs banning all such tech from home (he was concerned for welfare of family being suddenly woken by his wife with burnt fingertios, panic attack happening and barely able to stand from pain. "Flight or fight" response... was instructed through faq to contact seller, click on that seller takes you to amazon warranty, who later today tells me they cannot find a warranty on the item and to contact the seller.... ummm I tried it brought me to Amazon. 20 photos at this price and the greater possibility that we could have had a fire in our home last night.... UNACCEPTABLE. We did, with husband present put both old and new batteries back in unit, unit would not light uo, and both sets of batteries and unit started to become hot. We removed batteries, set in a safe place for everything to cool down. For about two months I had kept my unit in a beautiful old handmade oak armoire. This unit, if 1st set of batteries fried as quickly as they did (unit never left house, not used by a by one but me, and kept safely locked away) my thoughts all day have been what if it had ruptured or began to burn at anytime in between uses (weekly). This is no doubt a manufacturer issue. And it seems according to amazon I have no recourse. At least my house is still standing, my family safe, my fingers are sore a bit blistered but will heal. And the best answer I got was "we can't find any information on this unit" contact seller. Amazon you are the seller, and the source of the item sends me automatically to you, you don't get near them. 100% satisfaction tion. Awesome. I too did my homework I thought on this unit. And apparently the one I got fell in the "in the rare case of...." thanks for your 158.00 plus tax, nothing we can do. 20 most expensive little pictures on the planet that aren't made my an actual artist worth collecting! Buyer beware. And if you are the third party reading this, I'd love an answer, but somehow I don't expect to get one. The quality of packaging. Items and lack of care by Amazon and oh going to.boost our prime, packages coming sure post more often then not, so rarely 2 day free.... shame. You've done right by me on the little things, this is a BIG deal and passing the buck Amazon ..... on words. Just fury.Okay, so I saw this on Oprahs favorite things list.. so OF COURSE I was excited to order this. Aside from purchasing the film separately (and quite expensive I might add)...still I waited. Delivery from the actual insta share printer came on a different day from the film. Annoying..but I waited an extra week for the film so I could finally try out my printer. Now, that I have both the printer AND the film...the printer DOESN'T work. Tried new batteries...taking film out and blowing air on the device like a old school Sega games..nothing worked. After reading confusing instructions (distracted from all the different languages and small pictures) I GUESS I have to order ANOTHER product. ..a DC IN 5V cord?? I don't even know BECAUSE NOWHERE DOES IT SAY I NEEDED THAT TO MAKE THIS DEVICE WORK. I'm over this thing. Should come with any cords necessary to make it work. ESPECIALLY IF I'M PAYING AS MUCH AS I DID FOR THIS. NOW, do I risk investing more money into this and buy this cord...after I buy that cord how do I even know its going to work?!Very annoyed and disappointed. I can only imagine the trouble I'm going to have to go through just for my refund. -__-Update***So after going to the store for replacement batteries my instax share FINALLY WORKED. AND I AM HAPPY! pictures come out great...only 1 that semi didn't come out well but other than that...I'm obsessed with it! Still feel bummed that Polaroid paper/film (whatever) is still expensive as hell..buuuut the actual printer itself is fantastic! It was either buying this printer or one of the actual instax cameras. The price tag on the printer was definitely higher but my concern with the camera was the issue of wasted film. After reading a bunch of reviews I decided to go with the printer.I like it because I don't have to worry about carrying a camera wherever I go. If I want to capture a moment but forget to bring the camera, I can always print it out later at home and I can also pick and choose the picture I want to print so I know exactly what I'm getting. I like that I can also edit the photo with filters or print it black/white. It definitely gives me more options to edit how I want the picture to turn out.Like others have pointed out, the pictures do come out overexposed and the colors more washed out. It's cute if you like that vintage-y Polaroid look. If you don't like that and want it to look closer to the original, after reading other people's experiences, the trick is to download Snapseed and edit the picture there first before printing. It helps if the picture you're printing is originally sharp and bright. The settings I use are -40~-70 brightness and +80~+100 ambience and sometimes ~+60 sharpness.Overall, it's a good buy for me and what I was looking for. The film can be a bit pricey and also the batteries are a bit expensive. I already had a charger cord at home that was compatible so that wasn't really an issue. This fujifilm instax printer is a lot better than the camera as you just print off any photo you've taken on your phone. You don't need to carry the printer with you everywhere and you can print it off at home and save your memories there. With the fujifilm camera you can mess up and it will be a waste of a film (since the film is so expensive), but with this you know what you're printing out. You could even edit the photo on your phone before you print it. Definitely recommendedI recommend buying the Fujifilm accessory pack to go along with this printer, as this doesn't come with a charger/power cord.I haven't stopped using this since I've received it, and find myself reaching for this printer over my Instax camera. It's much easier to pick and choose which photos you want to print on your smartphone and print them on the film with this printer, there's no more worrying about not knowing how your photo turned out, or wasting expensive film with bad shots.Worked well for the first little while I had it. Didn't use it for a while, put a new film pack in and it spit the entire thing out. Tried again and same thing. 2 wasted packs and Fujifilm said they'd replace the packs but their only suggestion was replacing batteries and at nearly 20 dollars per battery I didn't want to waste the money to have it potentially still not work and waste yet another 15 dollars on film. My only option is sending it to Fujifilm which I would have to pay for shipping and then pay for repairs? Not really worth it.Purchasing experience:- Fast shipping with excellent packagingProduct:Cons- takes some reading of the user manual to set it up, but it is pretty straight-forward- operating the product is noisy since it does make a lot of noise while printing the actual photo- the provided battery is 2 cr2 batteries which costs around 25 CAD so be prepared to replace this in the futurePros- very much portable and does what it is marketed to do- photos turn out like the actual fujifilm instax camera prints- works well with both android and iosIt's a neat little printer that does a significantly better job than those Instax cameras. For the price, I would have liked it to include a charger or use more common batteries. Though I like it, I haven't really used it much as photos are expensive and most people I know prefer to have a digital copy versus a printed copy. It is, afterall, a just-for-fun device that prints out really really small photos so I can't fully recommend it unless you have some cash lying around.
